Practical Life: Wrist strengthening activity

Sometimes things don't go as planned...

I saw this awesome pouring activity from @lilamontessori that helps with wrist strengthening and I decided to add it to our practical life shelves. My son loves it, but my daughter was having a hard time. Each time she took it out, the rice would end up everywhere. At first, I didn't understand what was the matter. She didn't even seem to want to try to do the pouring, she was just throwing the rice around. I was getting frustrated with having to vacuum so much. So I decided to remove the job from the shelf for a few days. Then I reintroduced it using a different pouring material. After observing a few times, I realized that she couldn't use the cups because they were designed for right handed people. Something I didn't even think about being right handed myself 🤦🏻‍♀️

I went back on Amazon and found similar pour cups with spouts on both sides. I introduced the job with the new pour cups to both kids. My son did it first right handed. Then my daughter tried it out. For her first pour she tried right handed and spilled, then she did it left handed and didn't spill! She was so proud of herself, she did the job 3 more times! This continues to be a favorite job on our shelf. And you know what the best part is? Both kids have been trying it with both hands!

Both sets of pour cups are linked in my Amazon storefront under Practical Life. Try them out with your kiddos and see which they like best 😉
